This June, New York City voters are shaping the future of their communities. With a wide-open mayoral race, dozens of competitive City Council contests, and a ranked choice voting system in place, the 2025 NYC Mayoral Primary is one of the most pivotal local elections in the country.

TurboVote is innovating to prepare for local elections in 2025, including in New York City. Our latest features are helping millions of NYC voters cast their ballots with confidence.

A Smarter Voting Journey for Millions

The 5+ million voters across NYC can now access election information tailored to their exact address on TurboVote. With new enhancements for this election cycle, TurboVote is guiding voters through every step of the process:

Seamless Registration and Pre-RegistrationNew York City has its own online voter registration (OVR) system, so TurboVote leads users looking to register online to NYC’s Online Registration Tool, helping them register or pre-register with fewer steps and less friction.

Personalized Sample BallotsTurboVote users receive a clear, customized view of what’s on their ballot, including the Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, and a large number of City Council seats with quick access to guidance on how to vote in party primaries. Our sample ballots show what’s at stake and help voters act early with timely reminders and instructions tailored to NYC's rules.

Making Ranked Choice Voting Easy to UnderstandRanked choice voting is still new to many New Yorkers, but it doesn’t have to be confusing. TurboVote now includes in-line explanations of how RCV works, which contests use it, and how votes are counted, right when voters are exploring their ballots.

“Where Do I Vote?” Solved in One TapAfter early voting begins on June 16, voters will be able to tap to find their polling location and get directions, directly from their TurboVote election guide. It’s fast, simple, and eliminates uncertainty.

Vote ASAP, Or Snooze Until Next ElectionTurboVote sends reminders to help people vote early, including “Vote ASAP” and “Vote Tomorrow” nudges. But we also know when to pause; if a voter clicks “I Already Voted,” they won’t get further reminders for this election. This small feature builds trust and puts control back in the voter’s hands.
