As primary elections get underway in several states, we’re making it easier for voters to make confident decisions in consequential elections this year. Now, TurboVote users can see the prominent groups and people who have publicly endorsed candidates and ballot measure positions, directly from their Sample Ballot. This information provides another way to connect voters with guidance from organizations and individuals they trust.

In TurboVote, endorsements are references to publicly available statements of support or opposition made by organizations or individuals about candidates or ballot measures. These can come from a wide range of groups—from newspapers and nonprofits to unions, professional associations, and community organizations.

We present this information as additional context, similar to how we link to a candidate's website or social profiles, so users who want to explore it can do so transparently and all in one place. When available, endorsements automatically appear across a user’s Sample Ballot.

How It Works

The Sample Ballot provides a snapshot of total endorsements for each candidate and ballot measure.

Candidates in TurboVote with endorsement count

If TurboVote partners opt to add their own endorsements for candidates or ballot measure positions using Sample Ballot Customizations, their endorsements are still featured in banners throughout the Sample Ballot.

When users navigate to a candidate or ballot measure page from the Sample Ballot, they’ll find a list of the specific groups and individuals who support each candidate or measure position. Each name in the list links to more information about the endorsement.

Now, users have access to centralized endorsement information that makes it easier to navigate each race with confidence—all at a glance, right in TurboVote.
