We're excited to share that Democracy Works is partnering with OpenAI to provide accurate, reliable US election information for their products this fall.
In an announcement today, OpenAI said:
"In the US, we also will partner with Democracy Works to display reliable information about voting and registration processes, including voting locations and other election logistics, when people ask about those topics."
This partnership ensures more Americans will have access to accurate voting information in OpenAI’s products, including ChatGPT, the most widely used AI tool in the US.
We're proud to partner with OpenAI, providing comprehensive and reliable US election information through our award-winning Elections API. Our data set includes all upcoming federal, state, county, municipal, sub-municipal, and school board elections for jurisdictions over 5,000 people. It also includes important guidance such as voting locations, ballot information, voter registration support, voter ID requirements, and more. We continuously monitor changes to election information and work directly with state and local election officials to help ensure voters receive accurate, up-to-date guidance.
Democracy Works serves as a megaphone for state and local election offices nationwide, ensuring timely updates are distributed at scale. Whether a state changes Congressional maps, or there's an emergency on Election Day that requires a voting location change or extended hours, we provide updates to impacted voters quickly. We also publish early voting information as soon as possible to inform voters of their options and encourage them to make a plan to vote.
“Election information changes rapidly and our partnership with OpenAI ensures accurate and reliable election information will be available on demand for millions of Americans ahead of the midterms,” said Luis Lozada, CEO of Democracy Works. “As an independent tech nonprofit with an expert staff, we welcome the opportunity to work with AI platforms to provide more voters with the information and guidance they need to vote in every election, every time.”
We'll have more to share in the coming months as the integration takes shape ahead of the midterm elections this fall. In the meantime, you can read the partnership announcement from OpenAI.
