As a teacher and influencer on law and governance, and most recently a New York Times bestselling author of a book about unsung American heroes in history, Sharon McMahon is a leading voice in our nation’s civic culture. Upon hearing about TurboVote and learning of its usefulness in helping a national audience to participate in elections, her team moved quickly to include TurboVote as a resource for Sharon’s audience ahead of the November 5 general election. TurboVote is the first voting information tool Sharon McMahon Education has used and shared with its highly engaged community.

McMahon’s over one million social media followers are crucial to her TurboVote implementation. She and her team valued TurboVote’s ability to help voters at every step in the process in a single offering. In their initial social media stories on Instagram, they highlighted vital actions to their audience, including checking their registration status and learning what's on their ballot.

That initial set of stories in mid-September directed her audience to her website with TurboVote embedded. In just a few days, nearly 5,000 users signed up, and this number has nearly doubled since the site page was launched.

McMahon has also published information in her newsletter, The Preamble, about participating in elections using TurboVote. This article lays out how to use TurboVote to be fully engaged in the voting, and why voters should trust the information and tools.

This partnership demonstrates how influential voices can help make voting more accessible and understandable for all Americans. The collaboration between Sharon McMahon, a trusted voice in civic education, and TurboVote was a natural fit that aligned perfectly with her mission to provide her community with reliable information and practical tools to participate in democracy.
