Voter Engagement Summer Associate

Corporate Partnerships Practical Exercise, posted January 16, 2019

TurboVote helps users get registered, stay registered, and cast a ballot in every election, from municipal to national. TurboVote signed up its 6 millionth voter in 2018 by building the largest college, nonprofit, and corporate voter engagement coalition in the country, including hundreds of campuses, dozens of nonprofits, and companies like Starbucks, Univision, Facebook, Google, and Snapchat.

The TurboVote Challenge brings leading companies and organizations together in a nonpartisan, long-term commitment to increase voter participation. We help Challenge participants develop programs rooted in civic values that strengthen employee engagement and relationships with communities and customers.

Using relevant Democracy Works blog posts (such as this one and this one) and the TurboVote Challenge website for inspiration, write a cold outreach email to a prospective company of your choosing, requesting to schedule a call regarding the TurboVote Challenge. Be sure to describe the TurboVote tool and communicate its value (your pitch) in your message.

Then, please answer the following questions:

  1. Why do you think this company is a good fit for the TurboVote Challenge? How does the organization align with the TurboVote Challenge mission?

  2. Who should receive your cold email at the company you chose? You can name a title, department, or a specific individual found on LinkedIn.

Please limit your combined cold outreach email and question responses to a one-page (at maximum) PDF.
